"DWI? Game Over." is a new winter campaign for the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) that raises awareness to the dangers of drinking and driving during the winter sports and holiday season. This is a huge time of the year for fans of college and pro football, basketball and hockey, so we adapted the language of sports broadcasting to give a more accessible tone to a traditionally serious type of messaging.

We used the idea of tailgaters delivering the message to their peers and this campaign shares some of the actors from the YDYDYL TV spots.

There were two main types of boards.
1. Standard billboard size with the "DWI? Game Over." copy
2. Smaller "Pony Board" street level boards that remove the headline and just has the three figures with the established "You Drink, You Drive, You Lose" copy.

These outdoor spots ran in billboard applications, print ads as well as being used in Stadium graphics during the 2011-12 ESPN/Gildan New Mexico Bowl.

<description>We had the opportunity to bring Jason Brubaker's hit graphic novel, reMind to a digital platform. Working closely with the Graphicly development team, we were able to translate a graphic novel originally developed for print and turn it into an interactive ePublication running on the Grahpicly platform for tablets, mobile and desktop.

Some new featured were added such as guided panel view, which allows the interface to zoom you into to individual panels and guide you through the page in a more cinematic experience (see the teaser below). We also added sketch overlays that take advantage of Graphicly's interface where a user can take an eraser tool, and effectively erase the comic pages away and see the original line and sketch art of the page.

<description>A series of augmented reality installations done in two major nightlife and shopping districts in Albuquerque, NM during the summer of 2011. The campaign intended to engage a younger demographic as they are out having fun to raise awareness about the dangers of drunk driving and the consequences of DWI.

When the user steps on the feet graphics on the sidewalk, they are engaged by DWI messaging, and within a few seconds a paper bag with a sad face is virtually placed on their heads.

The campaign intended to engage people through fun, interactive methods while delivering serious, life saving talking points.

YDYDYL is a play on the long running tagline of "You Drink, You Drive, You Lose". We turned it into an accronym for a fictional sports network for the purposes of this campaign to support the sports broadcasting theme. I provided design support for the graphics used in the campaign as well as the related "DWI? Game Over" outdoor campaign.

This :90 second edit is the theatrical version, with :60 and :30 second versions edited for broadcast TV and interactive applications.

<description>Pedestrian traffic accidents are on the rise in New Mexico and its a serious problem that is impacting lives around the state. We were charged with creating a state-wide campaign to raise awareness to the issue and place equal responsibility on drivers and pedestrians to save lives.

This was a multi layered campaign including bus wraps, posters, handouts and other merch items with the theme of "Look For Me". In doing interviews with people who were in accidents, we found the theme of "i never saw them coming" to be the most common. Our entire concept came from this idea, where we place equal responsibility on drivers and pedestrians, to be actively aware of their surroundings and look out for each other.

The direction was to create a bold graphic with a simple message that would demand attention. Using silhouettes of different types of pedestrians and vehicles, we hoped to connect with different types of people and engage them on a personal level. We used dual messaging in the campaign with Green (Go) speaking to pedestrians, and red (Stop) speaking to drivers. It was a lot of fun to work on this project and I really hope it can affect some real change, and most importantly save some lives.

I had a chance to work with Jason Bane and Eric Carter, the creators behind the popular web comic "Carpe Chaos" to refine some of their advertising and marketing efforts.

Using existing artwork, i designed a system of graphics that would integrate into their existing website. These graphics announced such things as new pages, a storefront, wiki, and social networking.</description>

A series of multicolored promotional handbill posters playing up a fictional "boogey man" thats become a tourist attraction in the fictional locale of Cripple Peaks; from the graphic Novel, reMIND by Jason Brubaker.

These handbills were designed to be handed out at the 2011 San Diego Comic Con to hopefully entice people to come over to Jason's Small-Press booth and check out his book.

<description>I had a chance to collaborate with Jason Brubaker on translating his popular webcomic, reMIND to a printed hardcover graphic novel.

I designed the book including adding new front and back matter pages and did production on the project. I also designed the CTC (coffee table books) logo for Jason's imprint.

This book is currently being printed (check out the proofing images below for a sneak peak!) and will available around May-June 2011. The image shown here is a photoshop mockup. More photos will be updated as we get our advance copies back from the printer.

Look for Jason (and maybe me too) and this book at his small press booth at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con!

Check out an interview with Jason and a mini shout out to me over on Comic Book Resources

		<description>
It has been called the single most historic event of the 20th century: On July 20, 1969 Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins met John F. Kennedy's call for a manned Moon landing by the end of the 1960s. A decade of tests and training, a staff of 400,000 engineers and scientists, a budget of $24 billion, and the most powerful rocket ever launched all combined in an unprecedented event watched by millions the world over. And no one captured the men, the mood, and the machinery like Norman Mailer.

I had the opportunity to work on this fantastic book, with my duties including photo editing, layout, typesetting and some production.

<description>A series of 3 posters for The Dystopia Science Fiction Film Festival. More than just entertainment for geeks and nerds, Science Fiction has important literary merits to offer. By analyzing the trends and warning signs of today, the filmmakers attempt to show us a bleak warning of what our future could look like if changes aren’t made. I assigned themes to each film that would illustrate this idea.

The Art direction of the posters played up 3 major motifs in the science fiction film genre:

1. A futuristic, mysterious city inspired light and shadow.
2. A special effects laden cyber world.
3. A post-apocalyptic world of wrecked and twisted metal.
